How do I stream in 4K with my Arlo Ultra camera?

You can view live video in 4K from Arlo Ultra in these ways:

  • Your mobile device is connected to the same local network as your Arlo SmartHub or base station. This lets you live stream 4K content.
  • You inserted a microSD or USB device into your Arlo SmartHub or base station and selected 4K video recording. This lets you record all motion events in 4K quality.

Note: You cannot turn on or off 4K local live streaming in the Arlo web portal. For more information, visit Which devices are supported for HEVC 4K playback?.

To turn 4K local live streaming on or off:

  1. Launch the Arlo mobile app.
  2. Tap Settings > My Devices.
  3. Select an Arlo Ultra camera.
  4. Tap Video Settings.
  5. Tap the slider next to Local 4K Live Streaming.
    Your settings are automatically saved.

To turn local storage recording on or off:

  1. Launch the Arlo app or log in to your Arlo account at my.arlo.com.
  2. Tap or click Settings > My Devices.
  3. Select an Arlo SmartHub.
  4. Tap or click Storage Settings.
  5. Tap or click the slider next to Record Locally.
