What do I need to record 4K or 2K videos to the Arlo cloud?
To record in 4K or 2K video quality, you must have an Arlo Ultra or Pro 3 camera and an Arlo Smart Premier or Elite subscription plan. For more information about Arlo Smart subscription plans, visit What are the available Arlo subscription plans and how much cloud recording is available?.
To view 4K or 2K videos in the Arlo app, you must have a mobile device or web browser that supports 4K or 2K playback. For more information, visit Which devices are supported for HEVC 4K or 2K playback?.

- A 4K or 2K Arlo camera
- Arlo Ultra for 4K video quality
- Arlo Pro 3 for 2K video quality
- An Arlo Smart subscription
- Arlo Smart Premier for recording up to 2K video quality
- Arlo Smart Elite for recording up to 4K video quality
Purchase an Arlo Smart Subscription
You can purchase a multi-camera or single-camera version of Arlo Smart Premier or Arlo Smart Elite. For pricing and plan details, visit What are the available Arlo subscription plans and how much cloud recording is available?.
To purchase an Arlo Smart Subscription:
- Log in to my.arlo.com, or launch the Arlo app on Android.
Note: You can’t purchase or change an Arlo subscription on the Arlo iOS app. - Tap or click Settings > Subscription.
- Under the Arlo Smart section, tap or click Subscribe Now.
If you are currently on an Arlo Smart trial, tap or click Change Plan. - Select an Arlo Smart Premier or Elite subscription plan.
- Arlo Smart Premier allows for recording with up to 2K video quality.
- Arlo Smart Elite allows for recording with up to 4K video quality.
Note: You can switch between multi-camera and single-camera plans by tapping Multi-Camera Plans or Single-Camera Plans at the top.
- Follow the onscreen instructions to complete your purchase.
When the purchase is complete, your Arlo Ultra or Pro 3 cameras can record in 4K or 2K video quality, depending on the plan you selected.
