How should I position my Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight Camera?
Place your Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight Camera 8-10 feet (2.5-3 meters) off the ground, angled toward the ground, and within range of your WiFi router. Each home system setup is unique, so use these guidelines as general best practices.
Positioning Guidelines
The following image shows the floodlight’s beam spread within the camera’s field of view (FOV) only. This is not a representation of the floodlight’s full beam spread, which exceeds the camera’s vertical field of view.
When mounting your Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight Camera:
- Place your camera about 8-10 feet (2.5-3 meters) off the ground.
- Tilt your camera about 40° toward the ground, and further adjust the angle based on the height and location.
- Make sure that the camera’s field of view is clear of nearby walls and other obstructions.
A nearby wall can cause a bright reflection from the floodlight.
WiFi Connectivity Best Practices
When placing your Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight Camera:
- Make sure your camera is within the range of your WiFi router. For more information, contact your router manufacturer or Internet service provider (ISP).
Note: Your WiFi router’s range is reduced by each wall, ceiling, or other major obstruction between the WiFi router and your camera. - Make sure your camera is at least 10 feet (3 meters) away from your WiFi router and at least 6.5 feet (2 meters) away from other Arlo devices.
- Make sure that your home WiFi and mobile device meet Arlo’s minimum requirements. For more information, visit What are the minimum requirements for installing and using my Arlo System?.
The following materials reduce WiFi signal strength the most:
- Unusually thick walls and ceilings
- Brick
- Concrete
- Stone
- Ceramic
- Glass, especially mirrors
- Metal
- Large quantities of water, such as the water in a fish tank or water heater
