What are the benefits of connecting my Arlo Go 2 Camera via mobile or Wi-Fi?
How you connect your Arlo Go 2 Camera depends on your location and your security needs. Arlo Go 2 is designed to be flexible. You can set up your camera in one spot and use it there, or you can take it with you from place to place.
- Note: During initial setup, the Arlo Go 2 Camera first connects to the mobile LTE network, and then you have the option to also set up with Wi-Fi or skip the Wi-Fi connection step.
Connecting Arlo Go 2 only to the mobile LTE network works well when:
- The Arlo Go 2 Camera is in a location where Wi-Fi is unavailable or the Wi-Fi signal is weak, such as a cottage, cabin, large property, farm, or marina.
- You travel and want to bring your Arlo Go 2 Camera with you in your RV, on road trips, or on hunting trips.
- You plan to use your Arlo Go 2 Camera to temporarily monitor different locations for popup retail or job sites.
- You want continuous security coverage, even if the power goes out or during an internet service outage.
Connecting Arlo Go 2 to Wi-Fi works well when:
- Your Wi-Fi signal is strong at the Arlo Go 2 Camera location.
- Your Arlo Go 2 Camera mainly uses Wi-Fi at your home or business, but you want peace of mind in case of a power or internet service outage. The Arlo Go 2 camera automatically uses its mobile LTE connection if internet access via Wi-Fi becomes temporarily unavailable. When your Wi-Fi is available again, your Go 2 camera switches back to its Wi-Fi connection.
Unless you change its settings to specify Cellular Network, the Arlo Go 2 Camera prioritizes finding and connecting to a Wi-Fi network.
- If you want Arlo Go 2 to always connect to the mobile network, turn off Wi-Fi Network in the Arlo Secure App. This prevents your Arlo Go 2 from constantly attempting to find the Wi-Fi network it connected to before, which can affect battery life.
